About
Ironic Café started as a business in 2007 and it has been an iconic meeting point in Dunedin for over 20 years. Now, the café starts a new chapter as Ironic-Sur.
Our Story
Dunedin has been our home for many years but there was always a lingering feeling that a bit of our own traditions would find their way into the community. After many comings and goings a new idea came to light and this was having a traditional Dunedinite café with a sprinkle of Argentine culture. It is for this reason that Ironic Sur will endeavour to maintain what is known and loved by people in Dunedin but also embracing the exquisite food culture of this amazing country.
We are very excited to present this new concept to the public and we trust that you will enjoy it as much as you have enjoyed this wonderful café throughout these 20 years.

Private Function
We have designed our cafe so we can easily accommodate several large groups, dinning in separate areas of the cafe very successfully. We can also offer the entire cafe for a group of between 60 to 100 people for your special private occasion.
Out Catering
If you want to take the stress out of catering for your function, we are happy to cater for you. We can also deliver this to your chosen venue. Please ring to discuss you own particular requirements for catering.

We visited this café for breakfast, and they had a nice variety. The creamy mushroom dish, and smashed avo with eggs benedict both were delicious! The staff was friendly, the view was great, and parking was easy.

This Cafe is has some 😎 vibes you can chill here,work here at your own space with sip of coffee and a comfort of food 🥘 which is good enough to make your day and work going.. Its kind of busy cafe and you can expect to get a good service here and its iconic in its way as it has view of Dunedin Railway. I had been there with my office colleagues and we enjoyed our meal and a ☕️ coffee

A wee bit pricey but in retrospect it was worth it. It was Mothers Day with lots of reserved tables but we were still seated immediately (table for 2), order taken promptly and food arrived quite fast too. Would happily go again.
